Why unvented? - Traditional central heating systems have a hot water storage tank (in an airing cupboard) and a feed and expansion tank (located in the loft) which means that the hot water is 'gravity-fed'. Unvented hot water cylinders however are mains pressure fed and therefore provide higher pressure and flow rates.
